Korean actress Park Shin-hye and actor Kim Soo-hyun will be recognized for their great popularity at a Korean film festival.
The two stars will receive popularity awards, dubbed “Fantasia Awards,” from the Puchon Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) opening its 11-day festivity with a star-studded opening ceremony at the Bucheon Gymnasium tonight.
The awards are given to the faces that the citizens of Bucheon picked as wanting to see them the most at the opening ceremony of the genre film festival. Last year the honor went to actor Lee Jae-hoon and actress Min Hyo-lyn.
While Park will grace the red carpet event and deliver an acceptance speech tonight after Lee Byung-hun and Jun Ji-hyun, winners of producer’s choice accolade “Producer’s Choice,” Kim will not be able to make an appearance due to his hectic schedule.
Hosted by Sooyoung of Girl’s Generation and Shin hyun-joon, the opening ceremony will also be participated by the festival’s PR ambassadors Lee Hyun-woo, Mina Fujii, “Horror Stories 2” cast Go Gyeong-pyo, Lee Soo-hyuk and Kim Ji-won.
The unique PiFan, first held in 1997, represents marginalized film genres by highlighting horror, phycho-thriller, sci-fi, and sexually themed films.
