My Reflections at the end of episode 17



Pinocchio syndrome resides in all of us. The only difference is that in Inha it is in form of hiccups but in the rest of us it's just like our inner voice.....our conscience that never fails to tell us when we are doing right or wrong . It always places in front of us choices to make......that allows our lives to move in a particular direction. It is always willing to guide us if we listen to it.

We are able to bury it by convincing arguments like Song Cha Ok did or we can follow its dictates the way Inha did. The choices are there for all of us. It is easier or difficult to make the choice depending on the circumstances
For example......


Song Cha Ok.........chose not to make a stand against what was wrong but eventually caved in because.....
1. She saw how their lives changed after her husband quit his job having been unable to live with the effects of being a whistleblower..........the life after made a weaker person like Song Cha Ok be scared of the life of a whistleblower.
2. Took the easy way out......a short cut to her dreams of becoming a top notch reporter.
3. Chose to bury not only the reality but also her conscience in justifying her actions by convincing herself with the thought that if 99 out of 100 were fine with it the remaining one is expendable.


Choi Inha 's chose to listen to her inner voice.................she keeps hiccuping. One may say that It maybe easier for her to listen because of her love for Dalpo but then the rest of the circumstances remain exactly the same like that of her mother.

They will become even more similar when in the upcoming episode I think that.........bum Soo's mother offers Inha the same deal in the meeting that she asks to be set between them. The choices will not become easier .......Inha will show her mother the path that she should have taken when she refuses the deal . Though difficult, arduous and a longer path.........she will go on to show that dreams of becoming a reporter fulfilled without compromising truth or ones values and ideals
I have a feeling thats what will be seen in the remaining episodes as far as this mother daughter parallel is concerned.

....one prediction......Song Cha Ok will break the news on MSC regarding the info Dalpo handed her at the end of the episode. She will be forced to because she would not want her daughter to be a pawn in the hands of Bum Soo's mother. We saw that she was disturbed when asked to arrange the meeting.....


Before I end........I have to mention another thought.......that struck me strongly
I loved..........the marvellous eye opener about her father's regret. It was not for being a whistle blower BUT in leaving his job because of the actions of his colleagues. Letting their actions rule his life to the extent of making the wrong decision of quitting. He was correct in bringing to the fore the malpractice at the bank but wrong in not going through completely by making a stand.
Wow! What a strong message for all over here.......face things. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going......very true.
"When the situation becomes difficult, the strong will work harder to meet the challenge."
This is what makes life worth going through......

Did I mention before.......I just love this writer, Park Hye Ryeong ! Her dramas are now going to be on my watch list. She not only gave us a beautiful story with wonderful twists and characters with substance BUT also gave much food for our thought processes...

Thank you sis @maris on your in-depth analysis. Good points to ponder. You were right when you said that InHa's father did not stay firm and make a stand... being a whistle blower carries a heavy burden on one shoulders... the consequences and its effects after... it may give a sigh of relief as a matter of principle.... He also needs the support of his colleagues. It is a tough call.


I wonder if Dalpo's informant is Beomjo ? What if his mother discovers that... will relations not matter in that situation ?

I love how our genius writer forms her storylines.... She rounds them off nicely. There were gasps some teeny bit of noble idiocracy but our writer wraps it up without much ado especially with regards to our OTP. Fantastic !

“PINOCCHIO” EPISODE 18 VIDEO PREVIEW

Though he has no reason to trust her, Dal Po is giving Cha Ok a chance to redeem herself for the sake of her daughter In Ha. So, will Cha Ok reveal the wrong she and Beom Jo’s mother committed against Dal Po’s family years ago?

And clearly, I overreacted over the preview for episode 17. Today’s episode calmed me down and strengthened my admiration for the OTP. Their support for each other is unflinching, and when they become noble idiots, they call each other out on it and quickly move on from it to find other solutions to help/protect each other.

The preview for episode 18 surely has me loopy! If only it were whipped cream on Dal Po’s face … much more tempting to kiss him, but nevertheless, In Ha shaving her man’s face is still so intimate and hot, and ugh, it might still end up with the show trolling us! I hope the writer won’t be that cruel.

Oh so beautiful, sweet , dazzling, solely Shinhye...

In Ha and Dal Po made very admirable choices this episode. In Ha was willing to give up her entire reporting career and expose evidence that would incriminate her superiors for both Dal Po's sake and for the sake of justice. Dal Po, on the other hand, refused In Ha's piece of evidence because he didn't want to see her dreams destroyed. This pairing proves that when they're not being wishy-washy and going on-and-off, they're a mature couple that cares deeply for each other.

They also represent the polar opposite of Cha Ok's relationship with Dal Pyeong, the history of which was revealed in this episode. While In Ha and Dal Po are willing to make sacrifices for each other, even if it means losing their career or a chance to enact revenge, Cha Ok responded to Dal Pyeong's situation rather selfishly. When Dal Pyeong quit his job after becoming a "whistle-blower," Cha Ok deemed Dal Pyeong to be "pathetic" and strove to be better than him. She ignored her family, gave up both her husband and daughter, and even abandoned her sense of morality all for her career, for a chance to become the first female captain of the team.

Seeing her daughter being selfless not only for Dal Po but also for her own sake, to apologize in her stead, Cha Ok finally seems to fully regret her choices, hence her tears. I'm thrilled that Dal Po suggested that Cha Ok be the one to make things right and reveal her own wrongdoings to the world. She would finally be doing something selfless, not only to make up for what she did to Dal Po but also to prevent her daughter from having to ruin her own career. Cha Ok would finally be the mother she failed to be after all these years. I find this to be a pretty awesome chance for redemption. I can't wait to see what Cha Ok does with it in the next few weeks!


Cha Ok seems visibly rattled when Ro Sa says she wants to start using her daughter. She knows that if Ro Sa tries to get a hold of In Ha, then history just might repeat Itself.


Which is why when Dal Po makes this ingenious proposal...

... Cha Ok just might do it.
