"You're beautiful" to be broadcasted in the Philippines


Even though I already know that the Tagalog dub will not be good enough for everyone, I’m still excited about the arrival of 미남이시네요 (Minamishineyo or more famously known as “You’re Beautiful”) in the Philippines. This will be broadcasted by ABS-CBN as “He’s Beautiful.”

I said this already but I will say it again. The title “He’s Beautiful” in my opinion suits well if we’ll look at the original Korean title. The Minam in 미남이시네요 is masculine and I believe that even though it does not exactly mean “He’s Beautiful”, the revised title emphasizes more what the original Korean title means.

Main star of “He’s Beautiful” is Park Shin-hye (Stairway to Heaven, Tree of Heaven) who will play both Go Mi-nam and Go Mi-nyeo. Go Mi-nyeo is a sister-in-training but she’ll become like a dragonfly that will be caught in a spider web trap when she will be forced to replace her twin brother Mi-nam to continue his dream and motive/s. Mi-nam is chosen to become the A.N.Jell’s (a famous Asia group) fourth member but because of an accident which shall not be disclosed to the public, here comes Mi-nyeo to hesitantly rescue!

She’ll meet A.N.Jell’s three original members Tae-kyung, Shin-woo and Jeremy who will be played by Jang Geun-seok (Hwang Ji-ni, Hong Gil Dong, Lovers in Prague), Jung Yong-hwa and Lee Hong-ki, respectively. In joining this group, she will learn what love is.

I may call the plot of He’s Beautiful different. It involves idols/singers, but it also has a theme which I really like: girl pretending to be a guy (just like in Coffee Prince, She’s the Man, Hana Kimi, Painter of the Wind, etc.) But what made me excited more to watch this last October is because it is written by my favorite Korean screenwriters: Hong Jung-Eun and Hong Mi-ran (who also written Sassy Girl Chun-hyang, My Girl, Couple or Trouble and Hong Gil Dong)!

I’ll just ask two requests, ABS-CBN. I hope 1) you won’t change the original names of the characters, and 2) you won’t add any Tagalog/English theme songs on it!
