[20141126] YOO YEON SEOK’S ‘THE TAILORS’ (FUNNY) CASTING STORY REVEALED.
On November 26, 2014 during the press conference for The Tailors, Director Lee Won Seok revealed casting stories about the lead actors and actress of the movie.
After citing praises for actors Han Suk Kyu, Go Soo and Park Shin Hye that made him wanting to cast them, he went went on to say that as for Yoo Yeon Seok, “there wasn’t much to it” and later gave out a hilarious explanation on it.

However, the meeting with Yoo Yeon Seok was different. When asked about the stories regarding his casting, the director said “there wasn’t much to it”, to which Yoo Yeon Seok interjected with “At our first meeting, and even though I hadn’t decided on taking this production, he asked for and got 15 autographs from me”. To which the director responded, “I gave them to acquaintances”, and caused much explosive laughter.
The director explained “I wanted to cast someone who gave off a lonely image, to the role of the king. Yoo Yeon Seok gave off no appearance of loneliness, but one day while we were eating braised beef rib stew together, he appeared really lonely, and gave me 5 more autographs” and once again caused laughter in the venue.
Well, who would’ve thought Yoo Yeon Seok has what it takes to appear as lonely while eating braised beef rib stew (could it be that the stew sparked some painful memories to him?) and it would land him his first role as a king in his acting career?
And imagine how hilarious the image of him was, to be looking all lonely eating the stew and then to sign off the autographs for the cheeky Director Lee.
But then again, who am I kidding – this guy always ace the foreveralone look :
poor puppy Chilbong, the quintessential broody guy in Toy’s Three People MV, pathetic Han Soo, timid Hoya, …well okay fine – basically most of his characters that he has played so far, no?
