Finished watching the movie too....
I don't want to be a spoiler to those who haven't watched
yes it is worth watching.....ahh Shin Hye is so beautiful as queen

especially in this scene.....where all bowed down to the queen!

I would love to send in entries to get the free tickets... soo tempted, but I want to contribute to this movie.... I found it fascinating..... Ok won't give the spoilers.... I've gathered more friends to watch the movie.

When the movie premiere came, and the guests were models, designers from the Korean fashion industry.... knew that this approach was quite unique and possible pique interest but not as much for the general public... Production was expensive.... what if instead..there were more Korean celebrities in the mix.... surely that will gather more attention and interest .....


The Royal Tailor / Sanguiwon
Hundreds of years ago, in the royal palace of the Chosun kingdom, there existed a place called Sanguiwon. It was a place dedicated to the pursuit of beauty, where the court tailors crafted exquisite robes and ornaments for the royal family. It was also the setting of a great rivalry, one that existed between Dol-suk - a conservative designer who rose to the top of Sanguiwon by being faithful to his principles - and Kong-jin - a brilliant young designer with an innate knack for beauty. The king and the queen become the main spectators of the rivalry as it causes a great sensation in the palace, providing a tale full of twists, turns, laughter, and sorrow. A story of beautiful clothes that changed the course of fashion in the royal palace as well as the entire nation of Chosun.

The New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) 14th year, comprises some of the most dynamic films in Asian cinema and leaders in the motion picture industry. NYAFF 2015 will feature screenings of several star-studded Korean movies.


On July 9, SVA's Silas Theater at 8:30pm "The Royal Tailor" starring Park Shin Hye, with a special appearance by Director Lee Won Suk.

Tickets for the New York Asian Film Festival go on-sale on June 11. Tickets are priced at $14 for the General Public, $11 for Seniors, and $9 for Film Society members. 479 seats.

Two years after his anarchic comedy How to Use Guys With Secret Tips, Lee Won-suk returns to New York and the silver screen with his ambitious, big-budget period drama The Royal Tailor. His second feature is set during a clash between tradition and modernity in the royal court of 18th century Korea.

Han Suk-kyu plays the king’s tailor Jo Dol-seok. After serving the court for three decades, he is on the brink of rising to the rank of nobleman. But his life’s dream is threatened with the sudden appearance of young, handsome and carefree “designer” Lee Gong-jin whose radical fashion ideas quickly earn the Queen’s favor.

Unlike most films about the power of art (and music), Lee lets the striking costume designs of Jo Sang-gyeong speak for themselves, without resorting to reaction shots or exposition. The film’s traditional costumes took as much as six months to create, at a cost just shy of $1 million.

done watching the film last nite. my personal opinion. i dont like the story, a lot of lack in 2 hours period time, the antagonis seem confusing and shin hye... not much act. perhaps more elaborate from inner feeling, but... just sumthing not kicking it like the prev movie miracle cell no 7. and i'm a ghost.

shinhye fighting for more awesome film... chaiyookkk!!
