Director Lee Won-seok: “I looked for an actor with loneliness for this character. I had a meal with Yoo Yeon-seok the other day, and he looked very lonely.

Did she have a hard time acting in a historical film?
Park Shin Hye: “I tried hard to express the emotion of the Queen who lived tough life. It was also hard to wear ‘Gachae’ (It refers to a wig that Queen in Joseon Dynasty wore) because it was too heavy.”

How did she feel wearing Hanbok during filming ?
Park Shin Hye: “Hanbok that I wore in the film was really beautiful and elegant." “I realized clothing can transform a person.”

Regarding harmony with other actors....
Park Shin Hye: “They were all very nice to me. It was also first time for me to appear in a historical film. So, they helped me a lot in terms of acting as well. I really appreciate them.”


Is there any Hanbok that she wanted to wear during shooting?
Park Shin Hye: “There was a pale purple color Hanbok that Ko Soo and Han Seok-kyu made in the film. I liked it and really wanted to wear it.”

Park Shin Hye: “I has worked with a lot of 20 something actors so far. Yoo Yeon-seok is very sweet and friendly. We are not that close in the film, but he was really nice to me in reality. He is really charming guy.”

This duo is hilarious just watching them during the Press conference..... Actors Han Seok-Kyu and Ko Soo are close friends in real life.


The press conference of film <The Royal Tailor> was held at Megabox in Jung District, Seoul on November 26. Han Seok-kyu, Ko Soo, Park Shin-hye, Yoo Yeon-seok and director Lee Won-seok participated.

<The Royal Tailor> depicts competition of tailors who made attire worn by royalty in Joseon Dynasty. Han Seok-kyu appears as ‘Jo Dol-suk’ who is master artisan in charge of royal attire, and Ko soo plays ‘Lee Gong-jin’ who is a genius designer with an outstanding fashion sense.

Han Seok-kyu :“I really liked scenario. Message in this film was what I wanted to say. I think subject and plot was well mingled in this film.”

Ko Soo (or Go Soo): his first historical movie... “I liked scenario, too. When I first met director, he said hello to me and he looked like a black man. That raised expectation more for this film.”

Director Lee Won-seok: “I always wanted to work with actor Han Seok-kyu. I am also huge fan of Ko soo. When we drank together, I fell in love with Ko soo’s bright smile, too.” awww

Han Seok-kyu and Ko soo learned how to make clothing for a month since they appear as designers.

Han Seok-kyu: “It takes 2 months to make a royal robe of king. I honestly didn’t like sewing. It is delicate and repetitive work. I tried to make my own vest but, I gave up in the middle, too. Sewing also reminded me of my mother.”

Ko soo: “I had more sewing scenes than Han Seok-kyu had. I liked it, though. I made my clothing myself, too.”

Director Lee Won-seok: “These 4 characters in film are bold and challenge themselves to keep their positions. Audiences will empathize with emotion of these 4 characters.” Park Shin Hye, Yoo Yeon Seok, Han Seok-Kyu and Ko Soo.

Han Seok-kyu: “I wanted to make people learn about history and people who lived in that era through this film. I hope this film is helpful for them to understand history.”

Ko soo: “People in Joseon Dynasty was very eager for beauty. You can see what kind of clothing people in Joseon liked through this film.”

why is the King feeling "inferior" that is why he treat the young Queen coldly? I want to know...

Yoo Yeon Seok felt bad for being the bad king... so we see him putting his arm around the ladies.... but lo and behold... his hand on Shinhye's shoulder while the other arm is just resting on Yoobi's shoulder... hmmm
