Sharing some news about our 'Kim Soo-Chul' - Kim Jisoo
Sept 13th - Kim Ji Soo was rushed into the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Sources close to the actor have revealed that while Ji Soo had visited the hospital multiple times previously (for leg pain), it was not until the day before the emergency surgery that he underwent a detailed check-up. However, even before getting the results, Ji Soo was rushed to the hospital due to the urgency of his symptoms. He was taken to the hospital after suffering from a high fever and extreme leg pain, doctors revealed that he had acute osteomyelitis and needed emergency surgery.
The president of Kim Ji Soo's agency, Yeo Jun Yeong wrote, “Since several weeks ago Ji Soo’s leg was hurting so he went to a hospital to get treatment and examinations and the doctor said it might be bone cancer. We went to a larger hospital to get a diagnostic work-up to be sure. The results will be available after the Chuseok holiday but his condition had worsened to the point where he needed painkillers and a wheelchair. In the end, his fever rose close to 40 degrees Celsius (approximately 104 degrees Fahrenheit) so he was admitted to a hospital before the sun rose. People from the hospital hurriedly did a body scan and confirmed that it was acute osteomyelitis thankfully and not cancer upon checking the MRI.”
He continued, “Osteomyelitis is also a painful and scary disease but it was less bad news since we had been praying for it to not be cancer. He had a long surgery which ended around 9 p.m. yesterday and I was able to meet him.”
The president concluded, “We have to observe his progress but we are thankful that this is a hardship he can overcome. I am deeply thankful to the medical team who did their best. We are in discussion regarding the current projects he is filming in order to find a solution that causes the least inconvenience. However, we will focus on doing our best to console Ji Soo’s family and take care of Ji Soo so that he can recover. We are sorry to those who were shocked after seeing the news and causing them to worry before the holiday.”
According to the Mayo clinic, osteomyelitis is an infection in a bone. Infections can reach a bone by traveling through the bloodstream or spreading from nearby tissue. Infections can also begin in the bone itself if an injury exposes the bone to germs. Once considered an incurable condition, osteomyelitis can be successfully treated today. Most people require surgery to remove parts of the bone that have died — followed by strong antibiotics, often delivered intravenously, typically for at least four to six weeks.

Nov 2016 - In a recent interview with OSEN about his drama 'Fantastic', Kim Ji Soo candidly opened up about his recent struggle against acute osteomyelitis.During the interview, Kim Ji Soo reassured his fans that, “I have recovered a lot. I am receiving regular examinations, " but also went onto more detail regarding the traumatic experience explaining that, “Before going to the hospital my leg was limping. It was so painful, and it was the most difficult experience I had in my life. I also thought the human body is mysterious.”
However, during and after this dark period, Kim Ji Soo's truly thoughtful character could be seen as he went onto worry not only about himself, but those around him. Kim continued to selflessly express that, “The writer had a difficult time, too. I was so sorry because [the writer], director, and staff members had to change the planned lines and they worried a lot.” Kim Ji Soo also clarified how everyone was very considerate of his health and condition during subsequent filming, and how he was only filmed from the waist up when he had to wear a cast.
