Korean drama "You're Beautiful" scores top rating in Japan

Popular Korean TV series "You're Beautiful", currently airing on Japanese public network Fuji TV, has scored the highest viewership rating amongst shows broadcast in the same timeslot.

The show's promoter Market Insight announced in a press release on Thursday that the 11th episode of "You're Beautiful" broadcast on August 3, posted a rating of 6.9 percent, beating out TV Asahi's suspense mystery drama and TBS' "Mito Kimon" and NTV's "Karei naru Spy - Gogodora" which all air during the 3:30 p.m. timeslot.

"You're Beautiful" began its run in the country on July 20 as part of Fuji TV's "Hallyu Alpha Summer Festival" after having first premiered in the country on the Hallyu exclusive cable channel KNTV in March.

The hit SBS drama "You're Beautiful", about a girl pretending to be a man to join the popular idol group A.N.JELL, made household names out of actor Jang Geun-seok and actress Park Sin-hye in Korea and throughout Asia.

"You're Beautiful" aired in Korea during the latter half of 2009, maintaining viewership ratings in the 10 percent range despite competing against KBS' blockbuster drama "IRIS" during its run.

The show has been a success overseas as well, selling its publication rights to several broadcasters in Asia including China's CCTV, Thailand's BBTV, Philippines' GMA and Singapore's MATV.

SW is a great guy! The type of guy that would be your best friend, be there for you always and eventually become a great husband and father. He would be the safe choice.

and then....
There is TK. He is the kind of guy that you would have fights with, would disagree with and will be annoyed by. But, then he would melt your heart with his sensitive side, and will surprise you with a romantic getaway or by making you a pigRabbit!!!!
It would be that passion, those little details that would make never want to leave his side. Also it doesn't hurt that he is incredibly HOT!

So, hands down: I would choose TK!!

All of the characters are so lovable and funny in their own way.
But I have to say that I have to agree with the majority of you: Manager Ma. He is the funniest of them all.

SBS ‘You’re Beautiful’ is #1 in viewership in Japan and best selling drama DVD in Korea



Drama ‘You’re Beautiful’ is said to be up #1 in viewership on Japanese broadcast TV and also #1 for DVD sales in Korea.
The cast of the drama Jang GeunSeok and Park ShinHye previously did a fanmeeting in Japan in June and 4000 tickets were sold out in just 5 minutes. And the bands C.N Blue and FT Island, which cast Jung YongHwa and Lee HongKi are in, are also gaining great popularity in Japan, continuing the popularity that A.N JELL receives.

Another fact to prove the drama’s popularity is that the drama DVD is the best selling DVD for the first half of year 2010 with over 7000 drama sets sold. There is also the ‘director edition DVD’ of the drama released which reveals the behind-the-scene stories of the cast.

An official from SBS Contents Hub revealed that there will e a compact DVD set which includes the exclusive content lik commentary, cast interviews etc included released in Japan coming November. And already there are reservation sales of over 2000 sets.
