Actress Park Shin-hye has been welcomed enthusiastically in Taiwan, according to her agency 4HIM Entertainment on Tuesday.
A press release by 4HIM said that Park, who flew to Taipei on Sunday to promote her Taiwanese drama “Hayate the Combat Butler,” has been attracting large crowds in the country starting from the airport where her fans greeted her with placards.
“I can’t express how thankful I was to receive such enthusiastic welcome starting from the airport because I really didn’t expect it," Park was quoted as saying in the statement.
She then added it "felt like coming home" since she had been in the country for four months, up till early this year, to film "Hayate."
Park also attracted fans to the street of Ximending, known as one of the most popular districts in Taipei, during her guerrilla meeting with fans and at a fan meet-and-greet event for "Hayate" which was also attended by the remaining members of the cast.
Park will fly back to Korea later today after carrying out the remainder of her activities in the city, including making interview and TV appearances.
"Hayate," which is based on the Japanese animation of the same name, will begin its run on Taiwan’s FTV channel starting June 19 and is also set to premiere in Singapore in September as well as in China, Hong Kong and Japan at later dates.
Park first gained fame in Korea after appearing in hit TV series "Stairway to Heaven" (SBS, 2003) starring Kwon Sang-woo and Choi Ji-woo, and rose to stardom throughout Asia after starring in "He's Beautiful" (SBS, 2009) also starring Jang Keun-suk, Lee Hong-gi and Jung Yong-hwa.
She is currently working on an upcoming MBC TV series titled "Heartstrings," co-starring CNBLUE leader Jung Yong-hwa which is set to premiere on June 29.
