authors note: so i was sick today and ive always wanted to try writing a fanfic. here is my first attempt so please be nice! ill attempt to update regularly but since i work full time it may be abit hard. Also sorry about the long chapters but im trying to get you guys hooked! =)) ps sorry for my limited Korean skills. hahaha
Applause fills the stage as Jupiter concludes their heated debut song “Never Again”, this song always reminds Shin Hye of Hyuna’s “Change” and wonders whether this is why their group is off to such a popular start.
Rushing off stage, they take out their ear pieces as they walk back to their dressing room. Backstage at these music events are always crazy and packed full of idols everywhere you look. Shin Hye is sometimes surprised at how diva-like some idols actually are which is her main reason for never really attempting to make friends in the entertainment industry. As Chloe Unni always says “Shin Hye Ah, this is a dog eat dog world. Don’t trust other people easily and always remember to be humble. Success is a combination of our talent and how we treat our fans”. Shin Hye has always admired her leader and her words of wisdom.

“Shin Hye, what are you doing? Our dressing room is this way.” questions Jessica Unni.
“I just have to change my mic pack, its giving me feedback problems on stage”
“oh.. ok but hurry up because I think Sandra Unni is going to have another panic attack if we don’t practice our dance change section” with a cheeky smile and a wink, Jessica turns around and skips off.

“Jug gi-yo, can I get a new mic pack please? I think im having feedback problems on stage”
“What? Who are you? Urgh, let me have a look” a disgruntled backstage staff grabs the pack of Shin Hye.
“yea I can see what the problem is but I cant help you. We’re all out of mic packs. Just deal with it. You’re only a rookie band afterall, no one will notice if you go off key” and with that, he turns around to prepare the stage mics for 2AM.

Shin Hye looks flabbergasted at what he just said “You’re only a rookie band afterall, no one will notice if you go off key” She wonders what his problems was. He looked about 10 years her senior so she couldn’t yell at him however takes note of all his features so when Jupiter does turn popular, she’ll come back to show him!
However amongst her ranting thoughts a gentle voice interrupts “Excuse me but I couldnt help but notice you said your mic pack isn’t working?” Shin Hye turns around to face this mysterious voice only to find a face of an angel smiling back at her.
“…..erm… yea – it feeds me ---- I mean its gives feedback” she rushes to fix her mistake.
“hahaha well you can use mine. Our group just finished our performance.” and smiles again.
“err… thanks.” And quickly takes their pack. “I have to go now, my unni’s are waiting for me. Thanks for this. Bye.” she turns away however just as she is about to turn the corner she hears “Goodluck tonight!” to which Shin Hye just shyly smiles in acknowledgment.

“YA! Where have you been? We haven’t practiced our dance change yet!” Sandra Unni is always the one who likes to practice until she feels its perfect.
“Mianhe Unni, I had to change my mic pack and then some rude backstage – urgh never mind. Lets continue”
As they start their rehearsal to their Music Show Performance version of “Out of time” Jessica leans over and whispers “what happened out there? Your face is flushed and your still holding your old mic pack”
“oh, it’s a long story. Someone lent me their mic pack because the backstage staff were rude”
“huh? Who?”
“errrr – “ as Shin Hye was about to answer, Sandra sees that her two dongsaengs aren’t concentrating.
“YA seriously! If you two accidentally perform the Concert performance instead of Music Show Performance of “Out of time” im going to make you guys clean our dorm for the whole month!”
“Mainhae” they both mumble as they focus on their rehearsal.”

~~~~ o.o ~~~~~~~
“Hyung, where did you go? Lets quickly change so we can get back to the dorm in time to watch Star King!” as he puts his arm around Geun Suk’s shoulders.
“Since when did you like variety shows?”
“Since im on it!” Geun Suk rolls his eyes as he watches Nic smile a goofy smile.
“Ok we’re all good to go when you boys are” Manager Ma announces as he walks through the door holding, no doubt, tomorrows schedule.
“oh Geun Suk, just leave your mic pack on the table before you leave ok”
“I don’t have it anymore. I lent it out just before” says Geun Suk as he fixes his tie in the mirror.
“what? To who?”
“Shin Hye ssi.”
“Shin Hye?” Manager Ma scratches his head trying to figure out who he is talking about. Manager Ma has always tried to be well informed when it comes to other idol bands so it surprises him when he doesn’t immediately recognise the name.
“From Jupiter. They just debuted a month ago or something” noting Manager Ma’s confusion.
“aahhhhh the maknae right? Ok well whatever. Just let the backstage guy know. ALRIGHT BOYS LETS MOVE!” as Manager Ma claps his hand to indicate they should move out.
As Geun Suk walks through backstage he sees a lot of bands have yet to perform and is glad Manager Ma has the ability to juggle their schedule so they have a few hours to rest.
“Hyung, did you hear Nic is on Star King tonight?? Im so jealous! I want to do some variety shows. Apparently all the pretty nuna’s go on them!”
Geun Suk laughs.“Hong Ki ah – if you’re so desperate to do variety shows go tell Manager Ma. But if you’re desperate to only ‘befriend’ pretty nuna’s then I cant help you.” to which Hong Ki did a merong and jumped to talk to Nic.
Geun Suk has always been envious of his Maknae’s innocence and enthusiasm to his art.
Being the leader of their band, Geun Suk has always tried to be the stable rock and be the dependable Hyung his dongsaengs can look up to.
“Hong Ki, Nic – stop fooling around. Nic go get Changsu and come here. We have to get ready.” Walking through the exiting doors is always a battlefield after a Music Bank performance.
“alright boys. Lets go greet our fans!” Geun Suk smiled as Manager Ma went to open the doors.
Sudden roaring erupted and high pitch squeals were heard all over the foyer.
“ R-two-oh R20 R20 R20!”
Looking around he can see his members are engrossed in fan signing too and as expected, Hong Ki is always surrounded by the young high schoolers, Changsu is surrounded by the middle high schoolers and Nic is loved by both mother and daughters.
“Oppa!! Oppaa!!!” this has always made Geun Suk smile since it brings a bittersweet memory. Debuting at a young age and training for majority of his childhood, he missed out on a lot of “first time” experiences such a first kisses however he never has once regretted his choices.
“Ok sorry everyone but R20 needs to go. Thankyou for your continued support!” yells Manager Ma over hordes of screaming fans.
The boys scramble into their Van parked right outside of the Music Performance Foyer and immediately commenced their favourite part of the day – gift opening! After the gifts have been transferred to their correct owners, they all started to boast about who got the best present.
“No fair! Nic always gets the coolest presents!” Hong Ki pouted.
“That’s because all the Nuna’s love him the best!” Changsu laughed softly.
“We can share Hong Ki!!! Don’t be sad!” Nic tried to comfort Hong Ki and placed his arm around his shoulder as a comfort hug.
Geun Suk looked at his members and smiled. Nic is always the mother of the family, trying to always look out for his children – namely Hong Ki while Changsu takes on the role of the 2nd child – introverted and always calm.

Geun Suk had already started to doze off with Hong Ki already asleep on his shoulder.
“Alright boys. You’re home! Try and get some sleep will you?” yawned Manager Ma.
Nic was the first one out of the car and in the building.
“YA! Whats with him?” Manager Ma looked in astonishment.
“He wants to watch himself on Star King” replied Geun Suk and headed to their dorm.
When he walked in Nic was already plastered infront of the television.
“If you sit so close, you’re going to have square eyes and wear glasses for the rest of your life! Please don’t taint our suarve image.” Joked Geun Suk as Changsu and Hong Ki sat down on the couch and watched it together to support Nic.

Geun Suk got up to get water only to come back to find Hong Ki asking Nic about all the pretty Nuna’s on set.
“huh? Hyung, did you say you know some pretty nuna’s?” slurred Changsu who was half asleep and half awake on the couch.
“HYUNG, WHO ARE THEY?!” Hong Ki asked Nic loudly which made everyone look at the screen in wonder. Guen Suk knew exactly who they were.
“They were there tonight. Jupiter” replied Geun Suk.
“The one on the far right is very pretty” mumbled Changsu to which all the other members nodded in agreement.
“Her name’s Shin Hye. The Maknae I think” noted Geun Suk as he was fixated on the screen.
“hmmm she is even prettier in person… ” he thought to himself and suddenly glad that the other members couldn’t read his thoughts.
~~~~ o.o~~~~~

“Good work girls! Your leader is very proud of you tonight!!” says Chloe Unni as they are changing out of their performance outfits.
“So are you going to tell me why you are still carrying around 2 mic packs?” says Jessica while she puts plain white tshirt on but still manages to look gorgeous. Shin Hye has always thought Jessica Unni was the prettiest member in their group. She always has the ability to make people laugh and feel warm around her especially when she smiles.
“oh I need to return this one to the guy who lent it to me” says Shin Hye as she lets her hair down.
“a guy? WHO?!” all 3 members look at her perplexed.
“ummm that guy from R20? The tall one the fans call Sukkie or Chookie or something”
“GEUN SUK OPPA?!” said Sandra Unni. “He is such a dream. But too focused on his work to even notice girls” to which she pouted.
This sent Chloe into fits of laughter.
“Sandra, he is not your Oppa. Please refrain from being a fangirl! But Girls, we similarly should focus too. Remember: don’t trust or fall for anyone in this industry. Shin Hye, Sandra? Arasso?”
“Arasso.” They agreed while suppressing giggles. There have always been discussions about why Chloe Unni is so against the male species especially in the entertainment industry.
Sandra thinks its because Chloe has been burnt in the past during her training days while Jessica thinks it unrequited love. Her Unnis are such romantics.
“Im going to return this to Chook I mean Geun Suk” said Shin Hye over shoulder.
“Ok but hurry up, I want to get some food before we go back to our dorm” says Sandra Unni.
Shin Hye walked through backstage looking to this so called Sukkie. She remembered he was decent looking with an angelic smile however reprimanded herself for having such thoughts by remembering what Chloe Unni said. Besides he isn’t even her type she reminded herself.
As she walked through the corridor, a lot of people said congratulations which surprised Shin Hye. After walking down 2 corridors she decided it was best to ask the backstage crew

“Shil le Ham nida – do you know where R20 are? I have to return this mic pack”
“oh they left an hour ago. Here you can give it to me”
“Kamsaminda” Shin Hye thought how bizarre that they could leave so early especially with their popularity level.
“Shin Hye ssi, if you have finished your date now, I would like to go home” poked Jessica.
“I didn’t even get to see him. Apparently he left…..” still admist her own thoughts.
“you sound sad?” winked Jessica.
“Aneyo – let just go!” said Shin Hye as she grabbed Jessica by the arm to drag her away.

“Hyung do you want anything to drink?” asks Changsu
“No, im fine. Thanks Changsu” although considered well rested, Geun Suk rubs his forehead waiting for Manager Ma to inform them of todays schedule.

“Ok sorry about being late but I just had a phone call to take. Alright today you guys have a radio interview to promote your upcoming new mini album ollowed by a quick lunch. Then you will be transported to Lotte Shopping complex to promote your existing endorsement for a fan signing meet&greet session before a meeting with Corporate about promotions and potential tours for your upcoming minialbum. So we should get you all ready with hair and makeup – up you get!”

Geun Suk gets up first and the members follow suit.
“Ah before I forget, you guys must be really popular right now because you have another CF endorsement coming up. This time its with Sky mobile for their new concept Couple Phone.”
“Couple phone?” asks Hong Ki “how can we do couple phone concept unless……” Hong Ki’s face suddenly lights up.
“Ya Hong Ki can you calm down. Yes its with another idol group”
“Oh.. which group?” Changsu softly asks as he takes a seat on the couch again.
“It’ll be with a current active girl group who doesn’t have a static image yet” describes Manager Ma who they can tell are trying to be mysterious.
“2NE1? BEG? SNSD??!!!” Hong Ki started ranting and getting more excited by the moment.
Nic looks at Hong Ki and throws a cushion at him notioning him to keep quiet so Manager Ma can explain.
“You will be paired with the new girl group Jupiter! You will all be paired with a member of a group to do promotions and ultimately turn into a couple. This pairing will be based on how well you look with each other and the image Sky Mobile wants to portray with each couple. Wow, ok you guys are really late – off to hair and makeup. Quickly!”

The 4 members are rushed out of the room and sit in hair and makeup. Looking around Geun Suk can already tell Hong Ki is still trying to process the idea of being a couple while Nic and Changsu are trying to recall each Jupiter members names.
Geun Suk stares into the mirror and breathes out.
“a couple huh? This should be interesting. I wonder who I will be…. Not that it matters. It’s purely professional anyways. I must act professional so my dongseasngs behave similarly. Hmmm yes but… wow a couple.. guess ill get to meet her again.. I mean she should at least thank me right?” he thinks to himself.
“Alright, time to go! Changsu, Hong Ki, Nic, Geun Suk into the Van now!” Manager Ma says as he goes to make another phone call.

~~~~~ o.o~~~~~~

“Unni we don’t have any milk left” says Shin Hye over her shoulder.
“ohh.. don’t worry ill just have juice” it ‘s early morning and Chloe and Jessica are sitting on the couch watching tv while Sandra has fallen asleep on the carpet. Shin Hye smiles thinking how Sandra Unni can fall asleep anywhere.
Shin Hye hands Chloe the juice.
“Komowae-yo, does anyone know where Manager Song went?”
“I think she went outside to answer her phone, she better hurry up otherwise I think we will be late for schedule.” says Jessica without taking her eyes off the tv.
“Girls I have some exciting news!” Manager Song dances into the living room. “you girls have scored your first CF! omomo im so proud of you girls!”
Sandra suddenly awakens with a burst of questions “really? Who is it for? What are we endorsing? Do we get to film in cool locations?”
“Its for Sky mobile for their new concept Couple Phone. You will be working closely with R20 and will be doing promotions in couples.” Manager Song continues.
“We will be getting paired up with one of the R20 boys? Oh wow…….” Smirks Jessica and she glances in Shin Hye’s direction.
“ok well we can discuss this some more later. Ill give you girls 20mins to get ready then we have to go to the Salon for hair and makeup”
All 4 of them gather around the couch and start discussion about the four R20 boys.
“Geun Suk Oppa!!” Coos Sandra.
“No I want Geun Suk Oppa otherwise I have to paired up with a dongseang and that’s just weird” says Chloe.
“I don’t mind that Changsu fellow. He seems quietly masculine” Jessica says whistfully. “what about you Shin Hye?”
“umm.. I think Hong Ki is pretty cute and ill probably be paired with him since we are both maknaes” blushes Shin Hye as she turns to run upstairs.
“ya! Where are you going?” yells Sandra as Shin Hye disappears up the stairs.
“going to get ready! You guys should too!” answers Shin Hye as she runs to her room.
“R20? What are the odds. Irregardless this is our first CF, Shin Hye you must be focused and make your Unnis proud – that’s all that matters” thinks Shin Hye to herself.

After a long day of promotions, Shin Hye finds herself staring out of her Van window thinking about the new Sky Mobile CF.
“doesn’t sound like I get to spend much time with my Unnis during the promotions.” Shin Hye starts to worry since she hasn’t done any solo activities since her debut and especially while she was training for Jupiter. She doesn’t want to embarrass her members and feels a lot of burden being the maknae of the group.
“We’re here ladies.” Manager Song looks at Shin Hye and says it quietly when she notices all the other members have fallen asleep.
“Unni – wake up. We’re here.” Shin Hye gently shakes Jessica. Checking their makeup and hair is fine they walk out of the Van headed towards their rehearsal studio
While waiting for their dinner to be delievered , all 4 members take a break from rehearsal and sit on the floor infront of the dance practice mirror.
“while we have sometime right now, I thought id inform you of tomorrows schedule” says Manager Song as she takes a seat with the girls.
“in the morning you have a fan meeting and a small concert in Busan then in the afternoon we are meeting Sky Mobile to discuss in further detail the CF and what styles you all will take. Stylist Joanna Unni will be accompanying us to Sky Mobile.”
“Will R20 be there?” asks Chloe Unni.
“Yes they will as they need to discuss their new style as well. However im not sure if you will have time to meet them – oh good dinner is here. Eat well girls.”

“Annonghaesaeyo Sang ho- imnida, I am the PR representative for Sky Mobile. If you would like to follow me ill take you to our board room.” Sang ho bows and signals for Jupiter to walk first.
Shin Hye takes a look around at the grand building with the high cielings and marble floors.
“Excuse me, can I get your autograph noona?” Shin Hye is suddenly stopped and confused at the situation.
“ehh? Oh right. Of course” and signs the piece of paper with a smile.
“Kamsamnida noona. You’re very pretty” Shin Hye blushes and turns towards the elevator.
“awww our maknae had her first fan encounter with a male! Look at that blush!” coos Jessica unni.
“leave her alone Jessica.” Smiles Chloe Unni as the elevator takes them to the 18th floor.
“please take a seat” signals Sang ho. “the meeting will be starting shortly. I will be back with refreshments” Sang Ho mentions with a bow.

The meeting commenced with the PR Director detailing the dates of the photoshoots, the concept behind couple phone and the date of its release. Additionally the style of each couple was revealed much to Sandra’s delight who has been anticipating this the most.

“There will be 4 couples each representing 4 common types of couples most people identify with today: Cute/Funny couple who tend to do a lot of aegyo, the Mature couple who demonstrate a lot of care to those around them, the Sporty couple who like to go on active type of dating and the Elegant couple for those who work in the corporate world and socialise in those circles” explained the PR Director.

“So the following coupling will be as follows:
Cute/Funny: Jessica-ssi and Hong Ki-ssi;
Mature Couple: Chloe-ssi and Nic-ssi;
Sporty couple: Sandra-ssi and Chang su-ssi
Elegant Couple: Geun Suk -ssi and Shin Hye-ssi.

The concept for your new hair and makeup have been passed to your stylist, so prepare for some changes. R20 has been informed and the campaign will take effect in 2 weeks. That’s all. Thankyou for your time today” and with that, the meeting concluded leaving Jupiter sitting in the board room by themselves.

“I guess I don’t mind Nic, he has an angel of a face and he isn’t that much younger than I” says Chloe while reading the prep sheet.
“Sorry Jess, I took Chang su” jokes Sandra. Jessica pokes her tongue in response.
“I don’t mind. Hong Ki should be fun judging from what I read in the magazines. But Shin Hye, who would have thought our maknae with their Group Leader” says Jessica as she rubs Shin Hye on the head.
“ow. Stop it!” says shin hye as she ducks out of Jessica’s grip.
“hmmm.. Geun Suk. I did not see this coming. Guess it really sets the standard now” Shin Hye thinks to herself.

“Excuse me, do you know where the café is?” asks Shin Hye . She could only find a passing person who was busy texting on their mobile. As the maknae, its her responsibility to get the food and refreshments, Shin Hye doesn’t mind as it gives her time with her thoughts.
“What? Oh I just came from there, just follow this corridor all the way down and go down 2 floors. It should be right infront of you” without looking up at Shin Hye.
“Kamsamnida” smiles Shin Hye who begins to follow their instructions.

“Yebboseyo? Ah – Geun Suk Hyung, I just came from there! Fine, ill see you in a few minutes. I have to go see Manager Ma first.”
Shin Hye overheard the phone call and turned around. Without being able to see the helpful strangers face she tried to figure out who they were. The blonde hair and the husky voice sounded familiar.

When she reached the café, there was a large commotion with a lot of fan girls squealing. Shin Hye’s first instinct was to hide her face however she realised they weren’t squealing for her. Shin Hye couldn’t see what they were squealing for as her view was obstructed by 40 fan girls and 5 large men in black guarding some guy drinking coffee. He was wearing a black long trench, dark black sunglasses and sleek styled hair with a glistening ring on his finger.

“He looks ok from afar but seriously who the heck needs that much security? Talk about big ego boost…” Shin Hye thought however gave up trying to figure out who he was and decided to place her order before anyone realised she was there.
“Yebboseyo? Ah Unni – im coming!! Mianhe! There are a lot of people here so its taking a while. No ill be fine, I can carry it. Ok Mianhe!”

Shin Hye quickly scooped up her coffee order and ran back to the board room.

Hey sweetberry x! This is amazing! I can't wait for what happens next. I don't mind long chapters as long as they are engaging. I like how you've put the details so far in "you promised" ... And I like how Sukkie was the first to notice. Hahaha! You say you're sick? Man, this is cool already, what more when you're well? Heehee. Will wait for the next.
