By contrast, her "The Heirs" co-star, Lee Min Ho currently has 1.4 million followers, after opening his Instagram account in August 2015. "Producer" actor Kim Soo Hyun joined the platform in March 2015 and currently has 816,000 subscribers.
This accomplishment comes on the heels of the December 2015 announcement that Park obtained a record-number of Weibo subscribers, as more than 10 million fans followed the 25-year-old actress on the Chinese-language microblogging site.
She became the first Korean actress to achieve this milestone on Weibo, with fans reading posts by the star which range from entertainment updates to warm and fuzzy pet photos.
"We think Park Shin Hye's unique charm and the fact that she gives her all in every project, along with the way she genuinely communicates with her fans, is why she is loved by fans overseas," said a spokesperson for her management company, S.A.L.T Entertainment, in response to her Weibo milestone.
The former child actress maintains her appeal with domestic audiences through her roles in movies like "The Royal Tailor," but she captured the hearts of global Hallyu enthusiasts with dramas like the Hong Sisters' musical hit, "You're Beautiful," the teen melodrama, "The Heirs," and the investigative reporting series, "Pinocchio."
While she leads K-Drama contemporaries on Instagram, pop idols like G-Dragon currently dominate the social media platform through their posts that range from fashion-forward pictorials to depictions of sunsets. The Big Bang star currently reaches international audiences with 7.5 million followers.
Park recently completed filming of the highly-anticipated comedy, "Hyung" or "Older Brother," which pairs the actress with EXO's D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) and Jo Jung Suk (Oh My Ghost).
